Veterans Employment Assistance

The Orange County Workforce Investment Board (OCWIB)  runs Veterans' Employment-Related Assistance Program (VEAP)

Qualified veterans can access VEAP services at all OCWIB and PGWIN One-Stop locations, in Orange County, the City of Long Beach and surrounding areas.

OCWIB with Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network (PGWIN), Veterans’ and community organizations, community colleges and universities to provide employment and training assistance to qualified Veterans’ towards skills and careers in high-wage, high-demand occupations including sub segments of the emerging clean energy industry, and goods movement.

e-VETS Advisor offers access to more than 11,000 services and resources at the national, state and local levels.  In addition to education, job training and employment, it provides information on benefits and compensation; family and caregiver support; health; housing; homeless assistance; and transportation and travel.  It integrates with the National Resource Directory (NRD), a Web-based index of services and resources collaboratively managed by the Departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs.

The e-VETS Advisor is one of a series of elaws (Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses) Advisors developed by DOL to help employers and employees understand federal employment laws.  To access it, visit the elaws Web site.  To learn more about DOL’s efforts to assist Veterans and transitioning Service Members, visit the VETS Web site
Veterans and their spouses are a priority group for enrollment into the Workforce Investment Act Program.

Services can include:

  -  paid and unpaid work experience such as on-the-job training
  -  internships, apprenticeships and job shadowing
  -  occupational skills training;
  -  career guidance/counseling;
  -  job referrals; and supportive services.

If you are a recently separated Veteran (released in the last 48 months) you may qualify for a special grant that includes the above mentioned services.
