Graduate School

Innovation in Education

A number of graduate level study programs are available to Irvine residents—in particular, through the University of California, Irvine (UCI). UCI ranks very well nationally in many of it's departments and programs; three UCI researchers have even won Nobel Prizes, in chemistry and physics.

There is a great focus at UCI on research and graduate programs. Examples of this can be found in the Donald Bren School of Information & Computer Sciences, notable in that it's the first of it's kind in the UC system and one of the fastest-growing programs in the nation. Also, the Paul Merage School of Business M.B.A. programs are recognized internationally and were ranked by the Financial Times for being No. 1 in the U.S. for employment of M.B.A. students within 3 months of graduation.

In all, UCI offers 53 master's, an M.D., Ed.D., J.D and 45 Ph.D programs. UCI's School of Law is a welcome addition that is already garnering national attention, remarkable for a law school that was established in 2009. It was the first public law school to open in California in more than 40 years.

Additionally, the UC Irvine Extension program offer professional and personal enrichment courses—more than 4,000 courses each year. These courses include 35 certificate programs and 18 in specialized studies.
